October 18, 2009 - QC Circle

Pre-race:
We were able to arrive at the venue just before 4am! And because we were early birds, I got to take a lot of pre-race photos. Had to wait nearly 2 hours before the gun start of the 10k distance. I wasn't feeling 100% that morning. The fact that I only had 2 hours of sleep. Still tired from saturday morning basketball and afternoon adidas experience.

Race proper:
It was a whole lot of fun running around the QC circle and the stretch of commonwealth avenue with ZERO cars in sight! :) Us runners literally had all the lanes to ourselves! :D

I broke the 60min barrier!!! Well, at least according to my watch. But the official timer was already at 1:00:10 when I stepped on the timing mat. :( Hoping for the best while waiting for the race results.

Post-race:
A festive atmosphere welcomed the runners after crossing the finish line. We found a very good spot while waiting for the rest of the gang. And was lucky enough to get photo ops with the Mutya ng Quezon City candidates. ;)
I even got to borrow Ronnel's (kampuger) sigma telephoto lens, f/2.8!!! Thanks a lot for letting me try it out! :D
Had brunch at Max's Fried Chicken after some class pics and came back to congratulate the 42km finishers. Great job everyone, especially to those first timers in the 21km and full marathon category!
